All students will take the RLC Assessment in class or proctored by their STAs. Please do not complete the assessment prior to your scheduled time. The assessment is what allows the RLC to continue to improve, so please take it seriously.
As RLC students, the second year class option is encouraged. If you have signed up for the minor the second year completes a third of the minor. At this time, we are taking sign-ups for the sophomore course, Leadership (LDRS) 3104 Dynamics of Leadership. If you plan to take this class, ensure you fill out the attached form by 2/20th and drop it off in Femoyer 320.
Room is limited, therefore, please fill out this form and return it. Course requests open March 24th.
$500 awards are being offered to full-time students who have completed
service-learning projects. The goal in offering this award is complete the
learning process started by CASE grants. CASE grants encourage students to
propose and carry out service-learning projects. The Carter-Kellogg
Scholarship encourages students to reflect critically upon that project.
Specifically, applicants are asked about their experiences in the community
and the impact it had on the population that was served.
You can read more about the scholarship and how to apply at
http://www.servicebook.org/ <http://www.servicebook.org/> .
Beta Theta Pi is a national social fraternity that has a large emphasis on leadership development. The chapter of Virginia Tech offers some great outlets for becoming an outstanding leader in our community. Many members are involved in and lead organizations on campus like Inter-fraternity Council (IFC), Student Government Association, Relay for Life, and Big Event. Members are also orientation leaders and counselors from the newly created Hokie Camp Program. More information about the fraternity and the seven leadership development opportunities they offer their members can be found at www.betathetapi.org. If you would like any more information about the chapter here at Virginia Tech please feel free to contact the president and fellow RLC participant Danny Raynes (draynes@vt.edu) or their recruitment chair Bradley de Wet (dewetb@vt.edu).
